Grant to a USA public or private institution of higher education to provide research training to eligible individuals. Applicants are advised that required registrations may take up to several days to complete. Funding is intended for programs related to disability and rehabilitation research designed to provide advanced training and experience to individuals with doctorates, or similar advanced degrees, who have clinical or other relevant experience.

ARRT projects train rehabilitation researchers, including researchers with disabilities, with particular attention to research areas that support the implementation and objectives of the Rehabilitation Act, and that improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act.

ARRT projects under this opportunity announcement must provide advanced research training to eligible individuals to enhance their capacity to conduct high-quality multidisciplinary disability and rehabilitation research to improve outcomes for individuals with disabilities in NIDILRR’s major domain of community living and participation.

Proposed ARRT projects must:

Recruit and select candidates for advanced research training;
Provide a training program that includes didactic instruction, is multidisciplinary, and emphasizes scientific methodology;
Provide research experience with qualified researchers at the host institution or other appropriate institutions and practicum experience with organizations representing individuals with disabilities;
Provide academic and career mentorship;
Provide opportunities for participation in the development of professional presentations and scholarly publications and for attendance at professional conferences and meetings.

Foreign entities are not eligible to compete for or receive, awards made under this announcement. Faith-based and community organizations that meet the eligibility requirements are eligible to receive awards under this funding opportunity announcement.

Pre-proposal Conference:

A pre-application teleconference meeting will be held between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. (Eastern time) on 11/09/2020.

Interested parties are invited to participate in the pre-application meeting to discuss the funding priority and to receive information and technical assistance.

NIDILRR staff also will be available to provide information and technical assistance via individual phone consultations from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the date listed above. Requests for individual consultations during this one-hour window must be made in advance to Megan Alvarado.
