Grants of up to $25,000 to Illinois and Missouri organizations in eligible regions for community benefit initiatives. The purpose of the program is to provide for the basic needs of vulnerable populations in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Eligible organizations are those that address the areas of arts and culture; children and youth development; education; the environment; Jewish community support; and social services and health.

The Foundation generally focuses its grantmaking in the St. Louis region, primarily programs and organizations operating in St. Louis City and St. Louis County with a limited number in East St. Louis, IL.

The Foundation's focus will be primarily on organizations that are current/recent grantees. Applications from organizations new to the Foundation will need to meet very high expectations and demonstrate strong alignment with the Foundation's current priorities.

The Foundation also recognizes the increased suffering that COVID-19 has brought to so many through exacerbating significant societal inequities and injustices. Much of the Foundation’s grantmaking will focus on efforts to meet basic human needs including food, shelter, security, and safety for those impacted the most by pandemic.

Areas of Interest with a focus on the greater St. Louis region:

  • Arts/culture: With a preference for small and mid-size organizations and efforts to provide equitable access to the arts for underserved communities.
  • Children/Youth Development: Efforts to provide access to food and other basic needs as well as quality out of school programs for low-income children and youth.
  • Education: Particularly efforts to improve education among students in low performing school districts.
  • Environment: Efforts that directly provide for the betterment of the environment and ecology in the St. Louis area
  • Jewish Community Support: Particularly support for Jewish seniors, Jews with disabilities, and efforts to address Anti-Semitism.
  • Social Services/Health: Recognizing that the COVID19 pandemic revealed some of society’s greatest injustices and disproportionately impacted the most vulnerable, the foundation will focus on addressing basic needs with a preference for efforts to support 1) those experiencing poverty 2) women 3) people with physical and/or developmental disabilities.

The Foundation will be considering grants for general operating purposes where there is a positive historical relationship between the Foundation and the applicant.

Capital campaign support is provided in rare instances.
