Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB)
06/15/19 - Deadline for nominations; Applications accepted through 07/01/19.
Fellowships of $30,000 to USA medical students to take one year off from medical school studies to conduct eye research. The purpose of this program is to encourage promising medical students to pursue careers in ophthalmology or eye research. The fellowship must take place prior to the third or fourth year of medical school, and a portion of the funding should be used to finance the recipients research activities.
The program is neither intended to become a vehicle to assure the candidate a residency, nor used simply to provide technical assistance. The candidate, mentor, and the proposed training program are evaluated in the review process. Mentors should carefully consider the research project and its objectives as well as the role of and outcomes for the medical student within the project, as they will be required to submit this information in the application.
GrantWatch ID#: 183385
Candidates must be prepared to devote all of their time to the proposed research project during the fellowship.
