Grants to Missouri and Kansas nonprofit organizations to address community needs in eligible regions. Applicants must contact the funding source prior to submitting a proposal. Funding is intended to support original, high-quality programming that offers an innovative approach or solution to an existing or emerging community need, or responds to financial or humanitarian emergencies. Support is restricted to Kansas City and neighboring Jewish communities.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

An organization that self-identifies as a Jewish communal organization and maintains the quality of Jewish life and/or promotes the pursuit of tikkun olam (repairing the world) is eligible for funding by the Community Legacy Fund.

Applicants for Innovation grants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Must be located within the Service Area.
- Must serve the Jewish community or be an agency that self-identifies as a Jewish communal organization which maintains the quality of Jewish life and/or promotes the pursuit of tikkun olam (repairing the world). Houses of worship are excluded.
- Must be qualified as tax-exempt under section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code, as amended (the “Code”).
- Must have missions compatible with the Jewish Community Foundation.

An agency that does not meet the criteria above may submit an application only for a program produced in formal collaboration with a qualified organization, as outlined above, as demonstrated by a letter of support by the qualified partner.

Support is restricted to Kansas City and neighboring Jewish communities. This includes Manhattan, Kansas to the west, St. Joseph, Missouri to the north, Columbia, Missouri to the east and Joplin, Missouri to the south.

Houses of worship are excluded unless they contribute a unique service not otherwise available within the Jewish community that is essential to the Jewish community or Jewish life.

Community Legacy Fund dollars may not be used to support:
1. Capital campaigns
2. Fund-raising events/campaigns
3. Endowment, reserves, or other saving programs

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are due April 1. If a deadline falls on a weekend, applications are due the next business day.
