Grants of $75,000 to USA, Canada, and International individual investigators for pilot projects in any area related to ovarian cancer research. Priority is given to proposals that are multidisciplinary, innovative, show potential for translational research, and that may lead to independently funded investigations.

Funding is open to investigator-initiated projects in all areas of ovarian cancer research. In addition, projects designed to analyze data from already funded clinical trials will be considered. Applicants may budget for salary support, materials, supplies, consumables, travel costs for scientific meetings, and other expenses as justified.

Number of Grants:

The Foundation expects to fund multiple projects each year contingent upon funding availability.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum budget for each project is $75,000. At the end of year one of funding, up to two Pilot Studies that have demonstrated exceptional progress will be selected to receive an additional $25,000 of funding for year two, at the discretion of the Rivkin Center and contingent upon availability of funds.

Term of Contract:

- Pilot Study Awards will have a duration of two calendar years (24 months) unless otherwise negotiated with and agreed to by the Rivkin Center.
- The annual start date will be April 1 unless otherwise specified by the Rivkin Center.
- If unexpended funds remain in the budget at the end of the Year 2 funding period, a request for a No-Cost Extension period may be sent via proposalCENTRAL to the Rivkin Center 30 days prior to the completion of the funding period. Otherwise, all unexpended funds must be returned to the Rivkin Center within 90 days of the close of the funding period.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Investigators at the assistant, associate, or full professor level (or equivalent) are encouraged to apply, subject to guidelines of the applicant’s home institution.

Institutional overhead and indirect costs will not be included in the award.

Pre-Application Information:

All application materials should be submitted through proposalCENTRAL by December 1, 2021, 5 PM Eastern Time. Applicants who do not already have an account in proposalCENTRAL must register for an account prior to beginning application.

Each individual may only submit one Pilot Study or Scientific Scholar Award application to the Rivkin Center per year.
