Grants to USA and Territories state workforce agencies and Tribal organizations to develop and implement training, career and support services that benefit workers impacted by substance abuse. Funding is intended to address the economic impact of substance misuse, addiction, opioid use, and overdose in heavily impacted service areas.
Grantees will engage community partners, such as local workforce development boards, employers or industry organizations, treatment and recovery centers, education providers, legal services and law enforcement organizations, and community-based and faith-based organizations, to address the issues mentioned above.

These grant programs will serve workers, including dislocated workers, individuals with barriers to employment, new entrants to the workforce, or incumbent workers (employed or underemployed, a) who are personally affected by substance use disorders, defined as individuals who themselves or whose friends or family members have been directly or indirectly impacted by substance use disorders, or b) who seek to transition to professions that support individuals with a substance use disorder and need new or upgraded skills to better serve struggling or at-risk individuals.

Approximately 8 to 10 grants
Awards ranging from $500,000 to $5 million.
The period of performance is 48 months with an anticipated start date of April 1, 2020.
