Grants to USA researchers to support the profitability and viability of the soybean farming industry in Delaware. Focus areas include, but are not limited to, production, emerging markets, and technology. Funding is intended to increase the average bushels per acre yield to 49.2 by 2021; provide Delaware soybean farmers with the information they need to deal with weed and pest threats to their crops; and provide Delaware soybean farmers with the information they need to access and implement best production practices to help them continue to be good stewards of the land.

Research Priority List

The Board of Directors of the Delaware Soybean Board provides the following list of interest areas as a guide for researchers interested in advancing a proposal to the Board for funding. The following items are NOT ranked in order of importance. Those submitting requests are not limited to this list and are encouraged to submit proposals which will have the greatest impact on soybean farming in Delaware.

Term of Contract:

Please note that the Board can fund multi-year projects. However, multi-year projects will be reviewed every year for further funding.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Research must be led by a principal investigator. The grant must be presented to an organization.

The Board does not pay the Principal Investigator's Salary/Benefits.

The Board does not fund indirect costs.

Pre-Application Information:

- Proposal deadline: December 15
- Proposals to USB and Board: January
- Funding meeting: January
- Funding decision announced: March

Payments will be made as follows: 50% of project funding upon receipt of a fully executed Research Agreement, 30% upon receipt of a progress/interim report which is requested in August and 20% upon receipt of an annual report.
