Grants of up to $50,000 to Missouri and Kansas nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and religious organizations in eligible counties to address health issues due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Funding is intended for current and future health and economic needs created by the COVID-19 health crisis.

Health Forward serves Kansas City, Missouri, including portions of Clay and Platte counties; Cass, Lafayette, and Jackson counties in Missouri; and Allen, Johnson, and Wyandotte counties in Kansas.

COVID-19 Changes:

  • Shifting priorities – Understanding that our applicant defined grant budget is limited, and we are trying to be responsive to an overwhelming number of requests, we will prioritize requests from organizations that provide essential services including:
    • Access to safety net clinical services (mental health, physical health, etc.)
    • Food assistance
    • Medication assistance
  • Reduced award amounts – In order to equitably fund a range of organizations, Health Forward anticipates most awards will be $50,000 or less.
  • Eligibility to re-apply – Any organization who was declined for an applicant defined grant between January 2020 – April 2020 may re-apply in 2020.
  • Reduced application burden – Applicant defined grant applications for the remainder of 2020 will be submitted through an abbreviated narrative template.

The vision of Health Forward is healthy people living in healthy communities. To bring this vision to life, Health Forward tackles pressing health issues by focusing on those most in need, advocating for health and wellness, and partnering with communities.

The mission is to provide leadership, advocacy, and resources in order to eliminate barriers and promote quality health for the uninsured and underserved in the service area.

Applicant defined grants are based upon an applicant’s determination of need and should be consistent with Health Forward’s mission, target population, and service area.
