Grants to Missouri nonprofit organizations, municipalities, counties, public institutions, private businesses, and individuals to improve waste management in eligible locations. Applicants are required to submit a preliminary application before a final application. A very strong preference will be given to projects that lead to long term diversion and sustainability. Applicants should currently or eventually be operating within Region H: Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, and Osage counties.
The purpose of the District Grant program is to provide financial assistance to cities, counties and organizations - private, for-profit and non-profit, that will:

Small Project Program - Available Funding: $50,000 or 15% of the district's total annual allocation. Requests cannot exceed $10,000 with total project cost (request + matching funds) not exceeding $30,000.
Large Project Program - Available Funding: Funding will consist of the district's yearly allocation, typically $350,000-$400,000, minus $50,000 for small projects, minus the allocation MMSWMD will use for district operations and plan implementation. If not all of the $50,000 allocation for small grants is awarded, then the remainder will be available for the large project program. Request cannot exceed $100,000, additional documentation required for request over $50,000. There is no limit for total project cost (request + match).
The total dollar amount allowed any one applicant shall not exceed $100,000 for the fiscal year, beginning July-June.
Limit Per Project - Maximum amount of funds available for each project:
- Waste Reduction, R&D Reduction/Recycling, Market Development, Composting, Collection and Processing: $100,000
- Energy Recovery through Incineration: $75,000
- Educational/Informational: $25,000
August/September 2021 – Projected start date (following approval by Executive Board and MDNR)
